April 2026: 2x Faster Builds, ECDSA SSH Keys, More Services per Repo
Jonas ScholzThree things shipped this week: builds got a lot faster, we broadened SSH key support, and private repos are no longer capped at a handful of services.
~2x Faster Builds
The biggest change this week. Remote builders now run on new, faster hardware with a reworked caching layer, so repeat builds reuse more and base images like node:20 or python:3.12 are pulled from an in-network cache instead of the public internet. Git clones are also much faster now, which is especially noticeable on larger repos.
In practice, this roughly halves build times for most projects, with a larger speedup on image-heavy Dockerfiles and when a lot of builds kick off at the same time. Nothing to configure, it just applies to every build going forward.
ECDSA and Hardware-Backed SSH Keys
SSH into your containers now accepts ECDSA keys and hardware-backed keys like YubiKey, on top of the keys we already supported.
More Services per Private Repo
You can now connect many more services to the same private repo. The old limit of 20 services per private repo is gone, so large monorepos and projects split across lots of small services are no longer a problem.
That's it for this week. As always, if you run into any issues or have feedback, hit us up via the chat widget or at support@sliplane.io.
See you next week,
Jonas
